Lots of Updates to Cover!

Lots of Updates to Cover!

I've been busier than usual with various VAGF shows and activities going on. The first thing is the May VAGF meeting, which was great as usual. We had Paige Points from Play Frisco discuss her journey through art in her life and how to make connections that down the road can put you 'in the right place, at the right time.'

I have a piece in one of our partner galleries, Texas Title. The theme is 'Water' and some of you probably recognize the piece I submitted which is Wesley underwater at the Lubbock water park. The art will be hanging until August 1 with a meet the artist event on July 25th.

I also have a piece at Sweetwater Coffee & Tea in the 'Inspired by Great Artists' themed show. My piece is a small skin-tone color study, a partial reproduction of a portrait of Anders Zorn's wife Emma. He was known for his versatility in capturing color and tone with a simple color palette. The art will be on display until July 9th. Meet the artist event has already occurred.

Another venue where I currently have a piece is at the Frisco County building on Frisco Square (location of the old library), a show called 'Art in the Atrium'. This is a show they generally have in the winter/spring and then in the summer/fall. The piece there is titled 'Beauty' - a portrait of a youthful girl in a purple dress and head wrap reminiscent of Rembrandt style and she's part of my upcoming 'We Are Home' series which will feature portraits and scenes from cultures around the world. I'm not sure when I will have the series complete but my goal is end of the year for display some time in 2024. Art in the Atrium will run until October 17th.

Next, the second big show for VAGF of the year is called 'Artrageous' which is currently at the Discovery Center, reception Sunday, June 18th 6:30 - 8:30p. This show is open concept, no theme. My piece is of a group of whirling Dervish. The next big show will be 'Creme de la Creme' in the fall also at the discovery center. Stay tuned for more information on that.

Another gallery partner besides Sweetwater and Texas Title is Frisco Dental and I have a piece there as well, a scratchboard of a park in Brownfield, Texas. Some of you may recognize that one as well. The theme for that show is Landscapes. It will run until July 21st with meet the artist event Sunday, July 25th at 3p.

And finally, as of this post, I will have two pieceas in the upcoming show titled ‘Blue’ at Gallery 8680. The show will start on July 7th with receptions held every Friday 7-9p, July 7th, 14th and 21st.

Well that’s more than enough for now! Take care and get out there and do something artful whether it's creating or enjoying!   :)
